Read DNS records without the jargon

DNS connects a domain name to the services it exposes. This page shows the records actually returned by the resolver that was queried.

  • A and AAAA point to the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses used by the domain.
  • CNAME means the name behaves as an alias for another canonical name.
  • MX, NS, TXT, SOA and CAA describe mail, name servers, configuration text, zone data and certificate rules.
  • The absence of a record is not always a mistake, but it matters when a site is expected to answer publicly.
