Find the address in settings
Choose your device to follow the shortest path to network settings.
On Android
- Open Wi‑Fi, then tap the connected network.
- Open the network details or the settings icon.
- The local IP address appears in the advanced information.
On Windows
- Open Settings, then Network & Internet.
- Open the properties for the active connection.
- Look for the IPv4 or IPv6 address in the network details.
On macOS
- Open System Settings, then Network.
- Select the active connection and open the details.
- Check the TCP/IP section for the local address.
On iPhone / iPad
- Open Settings, then Wi‑Fi.
- Tap the info button for the connected network.
- The local IP address is listed in the network information.
On Linux
- Open the network settings for your desktop environment.
- Show the details of the active connection.
- You can also run `ip address` in a terminal.
What is a local IP address?
A local, or private, IP address identifies your device inside your home or office network. It is not routable on the internet and stays within your local network.
Reserved private ranges
- 10.0.0.0/8
- 172.16.0.0/12
- 192.168.0.0/16
- 169.254.0.0/16 for link-local addressing
Why can Amonip not see my local IP?
The browser can hide this data to protect your privacy. On Chrome and Android, WebRTC candidates can be replaced by a temporary mDNS name instead of a readable private address.
When that happens, Amonip must not invent an address. The page finishes the diagnostic and sends you to the guide for your device.

Frequently asked questions
Does Amonip store my local IP address?
No. Detection happens in the browser and nothing is saved server-side.
Why does the page show a masked address?
The browser exposed a network candidate without revealing a readable private address. That is normal protection.
What should I do if nothing appears?
Use the guide for your device to find the local address in the network settings.
